After verbally committing to the University of Washington three weeks ago, McDonald's All-American Terrence Jones (ESPNU 100: #9) has decided to decommit from the school and play for John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats. Terrence Jones, a 6'9" combo forward from Jefferson High School (OR) is the highest ranked player on the West Coast in the Class of 2010. He possesses skills similar to Lamar Odom as he is a long-limbed lefty that can handle the basketball, rebound, shoot, pass, and compete on the defensive end. He was named Mr. Basketball for the state of Oregon for the past two years. Jones put of averages of 32 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks as a senior while leading Jefferson to a third straight state championship. John Calipari was on the trail of Jones, even after he committed to Washington. He did the same with another Kentucky recruit, Enes Kanter, who also considered attending Washington until Calipari intervened. Along with PG Brandon Knight (ESPNU 100 : #4), SG Doron Lamb (ESPNU 100: #29), SG Stacy Poole (ESPNU 100: #51), C Enes Kanter (ESPNU 100: #25), and JUCO transfer PF Eloy Vargas, Terrence Jones should help UK be a force once again in college basketball.
