The Milton Eagles are fresh off of a Georgia state championship, with plans to bring another home next year and even make a run at a national title since everyone is returning. When people talk Milton they mention speedy point man and Ohio State bound Shannon Scott, a dog of a two sport player in wing Dai Jon Parker, and a talented four man in Julian Royal. All three juniors find themselves ranked amongst the nations best in the class of 2011. There is one kid that has seemed to fly under the radar a bit when it comes to names being mentioned in the crowd, his name, Evan Nolte. The 6'7 sophomore, yes coach David Boyd will have him for another two years, is the glue to one of the nations top high school teams. He lines up at the four spot, but he is a natural small forward with a stroke of genius from behind the ark. He put on a shooting display in the final four of this year's state playoffs by going 5 for 5 from three in the first half. After watching him play at least four times this season its clearly understood why he might go unnoticed by the common fan. Nolte does all the little things that is needed for his team to win. With season averages of 15 points and 7 rebounds, the level of flash in his game is probably at a two, he gets a couple of points because I've seen him dunk in a game before. If you add in his defense against bigger opponents, rebounding, add in his sweet stroke and brilliant floor game, he's worth millions to his team. Basketball runs in the family with his father playing ball on the Division II level, brother Connor now plays at Georgia after transferring from Furman, even his older sister received offers coming out of high school, but decided not to play. With good lineage and an evolving game Nolte won't be flying under the radar for to long. He's already received offers from UGA and the university of Virgina with Ga. Tech, Auburn, Stanford, Florida State and Duke all showing interest. Word is he might grow another two inches making him 6'9. If that happens close your eyes and imagine Gordon Hayward with a better three ball. (Check this year's final four if you don't know the name) Whats next for the rising junior, well the summer season started this past weekend and he posted an average of 24 points in a five game span. Check back with us in two years for the follow up. |
